Get Two Looks In One With This Reversible Cardigan!

What’s better than investing in a piece that gives you two different color combos? You get two looks in one with this Chico’s reversible windowpane-print cardigan in grey and cream! Score! I love the draping front and the versatility you get with this cardi! What side do you like better? The cream background or grey? I honestly can’t decide. I ordered 2 sizes because now days, I finding sizing so wacky everywhere! I ended up with the size 2 in this. While the 1 fit fine, I thought this fell prettier because it was more roomy. Chico’s sizing is a bit different. A 2 is considered a large at Chico’s. Anyway, this cardigan is great styled with grey jeans. For a little dressier look, I’d love it with some cream colored pants.

Tips On How To Style A Ruana – A Great Wardrobe Investment

If I were to name a few of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe, it would hands down include my artisan crafted ruanas and shawls! I absolutely adore the flowing and draping elegance these pieces lend to an outfit. They so easily add an element of chic that can’t be beat! “Easy” is the key word here! You can so easily toss a ruana over nearly anything and your style meter instantly pings!

Aside from style, is the warmth they offer for all seasons! Packed into your carry-on, a ruana is like a cozy blanket on an always cold airplane. I love to travel with mine! Great for a night out, at a sporting event, lunch with the girls..you name it! This one is made of 100% wool and comes in several other beautifully colored yarns.

Created by Loom Ruanas, each one is beautifully hand crafted in Uruguay. I’m always drawn to interesting pieces and the rich texture on this ruana along with the long fringe hem had me gaga at first sight! First glance and you can tell the quality and craftsmanship that goes into creating one of these pieces. I’m told each one takes over 8 hours to loom.

It’s one of those great wardrobe investments that never goes out. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve heard me talk about my gold shawl I’ve had for over 15 years that Jessica Simpson wore on her reality show with Nick Lachey when they were newlyweds. I’ve gotten enormous use of it and after all these years is still as gorgeous as ever. I always get a ton of compliments on it.

Typically, I style my ruanas and shawls over a pair of faded jeans. For this look, I threw on these faux leather leggings for a dressier night out look! These high waisted leggings are the best! They’re comfortable and figure flattering. I highly recommend!

A Must Have Faux Fur Leopard Print Jacket For Fall!

Happy Weekend guys! If you follow me over on the gram, you’ll know that we took a quick trip last weekend to Jackson Hole. Sunday I celebrated my birthday and we toured Grand Teton National Park. On Monday we did an all day tour of Yellowstone! It was BITTER cold but the sun shined the entire time we were there. We saw so much wildlife. It was an awesome time! We were up close with bison, moose, black bears, pronghorn antelope and a so much more. It is a quiet time there and we were even advised by some that it’s not a good time of year to go. Wrong. This is a great time. The animals were really moving and there were very very few tourists. I highly recommend. The Jcrew Knit Bomber Jacket in Camo

Hey guys! Hope your weekend is going well! It’s been storming here all weekend. I love rainy, lazy days sometimes don’t you?

Wanted to write a post about this awesome Jcrew knit bomber jacket in camo! By now, you’ve probably seen just how hot camo and animal prints are this fall season!

We shot this look before we left for Florida a few weeks ago and I didn’t have time to post. The Must Have Jcrew Parke Velvet Blazer + My favorite new Target jeans

Welcome Friday!! Hope everyone has had a good week! First weekend of October already! Leaves here in Southwest Michigan/Northern Indiana are just starting to turn. My birthday is the 14th and my mom always said it was the height of the color in our area but now it’s tending to be about a week later…closer to the third week of October! I love the change of color don’t you?

Ok, I typically would wait until a bit later in the fall to post about this Jcrew Parke Velvet Blazer in dried rose but I feel a strong obligation to get the word out early because last year these velvet jackets sold out in a flash and were very hard to come by! They come in 4 colors and the new seafoam color already sold out in like a week! Nuts right!? I feel lucky to have snagged one. It hasn’t arrived yet but I can’t wait!

Another reason to post today is that this jacket and everything else at Jcrew INCLUDING sale is 40% off!!! Correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty certain this is the best promotion they do! Last black Friday I think it was 40% off sitewide and it’s already happening — so woot woot!! The sale runs through the weekend but don’t run, don’t walk! Trust me…things go REALLY fast!

I also want to talk about these jeans! They are the BEST! They’re ONLY $28 and have real zippers running down each side. I love the wider leg and the super frayed hem. I think they are tres chic and look very designer. When I held them up, I could see they were the style where the waist band seems to go in smaller. I sized up one size to an 8. I like the little baggier look in this style and they are quite comfortable! A couple reviewers mentioned the zippers bothered them a bit. I never noticed them and I tend to be sensitive to stuff like that. A final note, my animal print booties are $38 from Target. Target has really hit it out of the ballpark lately don’t you think?

Shape Wear: A Must Have Investment In Your Wardrobe

Hey friends! Back from vacay and posting! It’s been a while! We were in Florida and it was SO dang hot and humid! Happy to be back in the swing of things and enjoying the cooler temps and the changing colors of Fall!

Wanted to chat here today about shape wear! I’m a big fan! Lumpy and bumpy is never good unless you are a roller coaster!

It’s funny how I’ve become my mother. My mom always believed in control wear and shoulder pads! Well, I haven’t gotten to the shoulder pad part (as least yet,lol) 😉 (You know everything and I mean EVERYTHING had shoulder pads back in the 80’s and 90’s and when they went out of style, my mom would cut them out of her old clothes and pin them into her new stuff that no longer came with them. But she had good reason. We are built very differently. She’s always been tall and somewhat lanky, very narrow shoulders and thin. But having narrow shoulders can be challenging in terms of pulling off and nicely styling a lot of tops. That’s why the shoulder pads helped her so much. Unfortunately, she failed to pass on her “eat what you what and don’t gain weight” gene to me so I depend on my shape wear for support in more than one way! Ha ha!!

Joking aside, investing in good shape wear/ control wear is a must! I feel it’s the number one trick for everyone regardless of their shape or size! Control wear just makes everything lay smoothly and makes your outfits look so much more sleek! It holds you in, smooths you out and even hides panty lines. It hides all the jiggles – be it big jiggles or little ones. Let’s face it – jiggling is just not good..ever!

I also wanted to share this ribbed midi body hugging dress. I’m wearing a size small for reference. It’s super soft and comfortable and it’s under $50! Also comes in a raspberry color! I’m wearing these high waisted shaper shorts under it. I love how it smooths me out!
