Dawned On Me

As we bid farewell to the final week of January (could it really have gone by so fast?) It’s not too soon to start looking to February and Valentine’s Day!  In the interest of full disclosure I’m not a real big Valentine’s Day fan.  It’s just another Hallmark holiday where roses and chocolates are well overrated.  Well, ok, roses are.  Lol!  I always tell Bill not to get me anything because I’m just too practical to spend 100 bucks on a bouquet of flowers.  But now that the boys are getting older, I strongly feel it’s our duty as parents to teach them the importance of being kind, thoughtful and aware of days like Valentines.  So — Bill always takes them to the store so they can buy me a card and flowers of some sort.  I don’t want them growing up to be clueless men but rather guys who take the time and effort to do something special for someone.  That’s my duty and their wives can thank me later. 🙂

While I’m not big into whimsy fashion, I’ve always been drawn to shirts with hearts on them this time of year.  Back when I was the room mom at school and the boys were younger, I’d always wear my festive heart shirt or sweater to the class party and all the little girls would notice and comment on how much they liked it. (So cute!)

So I’ve put together some cute Valentine’s Day outfit ideas for you below.  This top is super comfy and soft.  I’m wearing a medium for reference.

Weekend is finally here!  The week felt like a LONG one didn’t it?  I wanted to make sure to share this Prettylittlething Colorblock cardigan I got back in the Fall.  I did a shoot at the time but only posted to Instagram.  I didn’t post it on the blog at the time because it had sold out in a nano-second!  If I can’t come close to finding something similar, I tend not to do a post here if I know you can’t get it any longer.  (I couldn’t find anything else quite like it!)  Forward to a couple weeks ago and ASOS fully restocked it!   So, we re-shot the look this week!   The colors are so bright and pretty and you can’t beat the quality at this price point!

This cardi is fully stocked for now.  It’s the perfect piece to transition to the Spring or even take along on Spring break.  Also, these booties are my favorites!  I just got them delivered today in the tan color!  I love them and they’re marked down to under $100!

One of my favorite go to pieces has always been a wrap, ruana, or poncho!  They are so easy to wear, they make a great statement and they’re versatile and most importantly, they’re comfortable.  This ruana here was recently marked down to under $20!  If it’s sold out,  just book mark it, check back and you’ll be surprised how often items pop back into stock!  This plaid one here is also under $20! During the holidays my friend texted me a photo of this American Eagle Outfitters, AE Metallic Puffer Jacket and asked me what I thought of it?  My first thought was “Scotty beam me up!” Lol!  I honestly wasn’t sure.  Jury was out!  Fast forward to post holiday sales and I stumbled upon this metallic puffer on sale for WHAT!?!?!  $19.99!  REALLY?  How could I possibly go wrong!?  That’s cheaper than most T-Shirts right?  So I took a chance and it arrived this week!  I opened the package and immediately knew we were going to be friends!  It’s very soft (I thought it might be stiff) and the gold metallic is really quite pretty…not super opaque or bright.

So, I came upstairs wearing this jacket when my husband saw me and said that It looked like something I would wear at my toxic waste disposable job! LOL!  I’m STILL laughing out loud!!  He might have a point, but I liked it even more after that!  I’m not alone.  It gets good reviews and at the time of this posting, it’s still fully stocked in all sizes for 19.99!  Did I mention this jacket is 20 bucks?

While I’m a lover of all the seasons, I don’t love summer fashion nearly as much as winter clothes!  I know, I know..you’re saying: “How could you!”  Lol!  I love cozy and soft sweaters, jackets, scarves — you name it!   This season, Thread & Supply has hit it out of the park with their crazy teddy bear like soft fleece jackets, pullovers and vests!  This jacket is seriously like being wrapped up in the coziest, warm blanket!  Nordstrom has had a hard time keeping it in stock but my jacket is still available here and is currently 20% off!
