Dawned On Me

While most of us have our eyes on Spring styles, I am a sucker for a good sale and wanted to make sure to share this recent shoot featuring my Free People Cuddle Up Sweater on Major sale here!  This has been one of my favorite sweaters this season and what’s so nice is that the colors it’s available in, transition so nicely into the Spring season.  Here in Northern Indiana/SW Michigan, cool and chilly weather often hangs on well into May!  This is the perfect sweater for those cooler days when you don’t need a big coat but you still need something ample enough to stay warm.  Also, these Le Specs here are my new favorite sunglasses!!  Nordstrom can’t keep them in stock.  If they are in stock and you like them, grab them.  They are super comfy, nice weight and quality and they are very dark for bright, sunny days!

One of the things I love about this sweater is the varying textures it offers!  The front is a chunky, nubby knit and the back  has a cool textured pattern and the folded sleeves have yet another texture.

Told ya so last post!  Friday was a total snow day!  No question!  We didn’t even set an alarm.  We knew this system snow was going to be a doozie and everything would be closed!  We got over a foot of snow since Thursday night!  It’s such a beautiful winter wonderland here in Southwest Michigan!  Between plowing our long driveway, I talked Bill into shooting this look for me.  It was coming down ALL day!  There was never a break. We never moved so fast!  The snow was coming down so hard that I was covered in seconds and had to keep shaking it off myself!  Maybe not such a good idea after all! Ha ha!

Remember my LOFT fleece cardigan from this blog post?  Well, when I was in the store a couple weeks ago to make an exchange, I spotted this buffalo plaid poncho.  You typically see buffalo plaid in black and red, but I thought the combination of blues in this piece were stunning! Don’t you?

I’ve been meaning to also tell you about the fantastic T-Shirt I’m wearing under this buffalo plaid poncho!  It’s truly a styling wonder!  I saw another blogger (I wish I can remember who it was) who was going on and on in her insta-stories about these Michael Stars T-shirts and how amazing they were.  They come in short sleeve, long sleeve and sleeveless.  When I looked it up and saw the price my jaw dropped. LOL!  (I’m typically a $12 Target T-shirt girl)  So, I decided to wait until Anthropologie had a sale on their regular priced items and pulled the trigger.  I’m SO glad I did.  I have this T in both long and short sleeve AND in both black and white.  I get so much use out of them.  Ok, so you’re saying the same thing I was thinking before buying it.  What makes it so special?  First, it’s high quality fabric and there is a real nice stretch to them.  While the sizing (I think it’s one size fits all) is a snug fit, it is not the least bit clingy.  What I’m saying is that it’s quite forgiving!  I have NO idea why.  It kind of creases in the right places and conceals all your imperfections instead of hugging all the lumps and bumps.  That to me, is worth its weight in gold.  I know you agree! 🙂

I decided to throw my hat on after my hair was getting totally trashed in the wet snow! LOL!  I just picked this hat up at Marshals for like 10 bucks and it  happened to match beautifully and come in quite handy too!

So… that’s our snow day in a nutshell today!  Hope it’s the last one!  Spring is starting to sound REAL good and if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I love winter fashion over summer fashion…but sunshine sounds real nice! Patience…patience I keep telling myself.  Hope you have a GREAT weekend.  My boys are both playing in a tennis tournament.  It’s the reason I bite my nails!  😉

Happy almost weekend! We shot this look last month when we were in Florida!  Today, we are expecting up to 2 feet of snow, so I had to hit my photo catalog to take me back to sun and warmth! LOL!  It’s been a brutal winter here to say the least!  I wanted to post these photos because this Sole Society ultimate layering black & white scarf  or wrap, sold out in a snap at Nordstrom!  The great news is that it’s still available here on sale and under $35!  It’s a beauty!  The colors are amazing!

When I posted this look on Instagram, I got a few questions about my white thermal!  It’s a “must have” closet staple and comes in a bunch of gorgeous colors!  I have it in this white and also in moss!  I love them!

Even if it is in the single digits in my neck of the woods, that’s not going to stop me from dreaming of spring break season which is quickly nearing!  I’m a big fan of Express!  Geez, I’ve shopped there for over 30 years! That’s old right!? 😉  Funny story.  That flashback hit me last week when I was in the store shopping.  The music was blasting and it was driving me INSANE! LOL!  I remember like yesterday my mom and I always shopping there when I was in my late teens and into my twenties.  After a while she’d tell me she had to get out of there because the music was killing her!  I have now become my mother!  I relayed the story to a sweet associate helping me who was half my age and her response was: “try working here and listening to it all day!”  Good point!

I found this adorable foil lips crew neck tee and had to get it!  It’s a very pale pink and almost looks white in the photos.  Wearing a small for reference.  As you can see from this blog post last winter, I have a thing for T’s with lips. 🙂  This one looks great styled with any black cardigan like mine here.

If I said it already on another post, it’s worth repeating — these dark sunnies are the best.  They keep selling out at Nordstrom.  I really love them!  Seems they keep restocking them every week.  They’re awesome for bright days and tired eyes. 😉

Happy Weekend!  It’s FREEZING again here and I’m afraid it’s way too soon to be thinking Spring fashion.  So, I’m here to share some cozy favorites from the Loft I recently got!  This fleece cardigan is super soft and can take you fireside to right out the door!  When I ordered it, I ordered a small and a large by accident so I went to the store and tried the medium.  I ended up keeping the large!  It’s definitely bigger than I need but this style kind of calls for a more oversized look.  Too tailored doesn’t really work IMO.  It’s super warm and I often wear it around the house when it’s SO cold out!

This week Loft is having a $50 off $100 promotion — Basically, half off.  Below, I will also link some of my favorite things I just ordered and received in addition to this cardigan/jacket.  Loft is usually hit or miss for me but lately it’s been on hit mode. lol! Being that I live in a pretty cold climate, I have to say I wear my The North Face Metropolis coat nearly daily!  But for more normal winter days or if you live in a bit more mild climate, these two Free People Jackets I styled with my favorite leggings are real winners!  Even better, my pink velvet trucker jacket here and my denim jacket here are  on MAJOR sale at Macys through this weekend!

This velvet pink trucker jacket comes in 2 other colors!  I am dying for the green one as well!  I love these velvet jackets!  Both the texture and color are amazing!  I get so many compliments on it!  I also Love these Zella high waist leggings here!  They are totally worth every penny!!  They are very comfortable, they hold you in if you know what I mean. 🙂 and they go with so much!
