There are so many good things about this time of year and the Sephora Holiday Beauty Insider Sale Event is always one of them!

I often blog about beauty products that I have tried and loved – but today I’m switching it up a bit!  I’m giving you a peek at what I’m buying at this year’s Sephora sale!

So, how did I come up with the products in my cart?  I hate to admit it, but I spend countless hours watching Youtube videos on Sephora and Ulta beauty hauls.  It’s so easy to get sucked in and before I know it, it’s midnight!

1 Benefit Cookie Highlighter

I LOVE the Benefit Highlighters and this one has been described and “creamy and buttery,” “smooth and silky.”  I have this highlighter in twinkle and talked about it in this blog post here.

2  Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronzer

This is said to be a universally flattering bronzer.  What struck me was the beautiful compact and the nice large mirror included.

3  Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette

A bit pricey but the reviews are awesome.  These shadows are said to be velvety and highly pigmented.  The colors are gorgeous

4  NARS Free Lover Cheek Palette

I love Nars blushes (the color orgasm has a cult following)  This set includes 5 beautiful blushes and a highlighter!

5  Laneige Lip Glowy Balm

I swear by the Laneige lip sleeping mask!  Excited to try this balm that is tinted and great to throw in my bag.

6  Too Faced Shimmering Eye Shadow Veil

I already own this in the color “Totally Whipped” and I Totally LOVE it!  It’s not too flashy and works on my aging eyelids without looking like a valley girl. The color “Pop The Bubbly” was also recommended so I can’t wait to try it!

7  Tom Ford Lipstick

 I already own this lipstick but it’s time to restock!  I ADORE the color “Paper Doll” and while it’s nutty expensive, it’s lasted a year and I wear it all the time!

8  Peter Thomas Roth Lactic Pore Treatment

Anything that promises to reduce my pores sparks my interest.  The reviews are fabulous!

9  Kat Von D Eye Palette

I’ve bragged about this palette on the blog before!  I had to list it here because it’s on sale!  My guess is, that it’s being discontinued.  Get it now!  The shades are matte and pigmented and the perfect palette for all ages and skin tones.

10  It Cosmetics Primer

Excited to try a new primer out!  I’ve been using this Benefit Porefessional primer for a while and still love it.

11. QUAI Dry Shampoo

I’m always on the search for a good dry shampoo.  I really don’t have one I love, so hopefully this will not disappoint.

12  Fenty Blending Eye Brush

I’m in the market for a nice, new crease brush.  This one seems to be popular!

13  OLENENRIKSEN Transforming Walnut Scrub

“Transforming” is what caught my attention here.  I’ll let you know what I think.

14  Marc Jacobs Gel Eyeliner

Said to be non-irritating and has lasting power!

15  Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil

Looking for a new lip liner that goes with everything.  A few people said the color “Naked” is perfect!

1  Overnight Steel Cut Oats

This is my FAVE weekend of the year!  Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour and get an extra hour of beauty rest!  Before bed Saturday night, why not try this yummy overnight steel cut oats recipe.  It’s sooo good.  I love cinnamon so I add it to the oats while they are boiling.  These are so good with fresh raspberries, walnuts, raisins, or apples on top!

2  Gel Heel Socks

If you suffer from dry, cracked heels these gel socks are just the answer!  Just wear them overnight and you will see your heels soften in no time!  I love mine!

3  10 Things Your Plumbers Never Tell You

Read this then go buy a new pair of shoes with the money you saved on a plumber :)!

4  Classic Movie Scenes Set To Uptown Funk

You have to check out this video!  SO amazing and the best 5 minutes of your day!

5  Tweezerman Lighted Tweezers

I just got these lighted tweezers and they are awesome!  The little light really does help you spot those pesky whiskers! LOL!  You can also find them here.

6. Exfoliating Body Brush

This little brush is said to reduce ingrown hairs and razor bumps.  I was a bit apprehensive but the reviewers love this little tool!

7  Corn Casserole Recipe

Time to start thinking about Thanksgiving dinner!  Here is one of my annual go-to recipes!  This corn casserole is a crowd pleaser and can be prepared and ready to bake ahead of time which I love!  I first started making it about 17 years ago when I anchored the noon news and we had a weekly cooking segment.  The cook made something very similar to this one –  Hers had  a stick of butter (rather than 1/2 stick)  but no sour cream. I might try this one with the sour cream this year but just know you can do it both ways!

8  Warming Tray

 I can’t live without my warming trays!  These come in so handy when oven space is sparse – especially on Thanksgiving.  I take dishes out of the oven and put them right on the tray.  These trays are sooo helpful!  My mom gave me several of hers and they seem harder and harder to find.  This one looks good!

9 Monogram Beaded Bracelet

I love a personalized gift!  These monogram beaded bracelets would make great holiday gifts, stocking stuffers, you name it!  I can’t wait to get mine!

10 Winged Liner Stamper

Love the winged liner look but don’t have a steady hand to make it look symmetrical?  This eyeliner stamping pen does it for you – easy peasy!

Styling Faux Leather Leggings

Styling Faux Leather Leggings

Faux leather leggings and pants might seem a bit intimidating at first, but they’re super easy to style and can easily elevate your look!  They’re as comfortable as a pair of jeans and can be figure flattering worn the right way.

One of my favorite pairs are these Spanx faux leather leggings I got a couple of years ago.  They’re a great starter pair if you don’t already own any faux leather.  They’re high waisted and have a smooth texture.  You can see how I styled these in my blog post here.

The leggings in the photos above are new.  They’re the Spanx hip zip style.  They have 2 zippered sections at the waist and I love the textured moto seams.

Another thing I love about faux leather leggings is that they can be easily dressed up with heels or dressier boots.  Likewise, you can dress them down for a far more casual look with a pair of rain boots or sneakers.

I also think they’d look AMAZING with combat boots!  I have been searching forever for a pair of combat boots that I love but wasn’t having any luck until yesterday, when this pair arrived!  I was seeing a ton of people wearing them in Munich a few weeks ago and I had a very specific style in mind.  I wanted patent, not too clunky looking and most of all, comfortable.  This pair is under $40 with code BEWEIRD – They are lightweight and very comfy!  I HIGHLY recommend and are a fabulous price!

I love wearing all these leggings with tunics, cardigans or pretty coats.  I think they are most slenderizing and flattering worn with longer, black tops like this one – and would look gorg with this beautiful tiger faux fur coat. (Oh my! On my wish list!)

5 Tips On Creating A Capsule Wardrobe

If your closet is a chaotic mess like mine and is busting at the seams this post is for you!

Every Fall and Spring I make my best attempt at cleaning out my closet.  It’s a dreaded task for sure!  As I get older and wiser, the philosophy of less is more, is becoming more and more appealing to me!  Simplifying has never sounded so good.

The minimalist lifestyle is gaining traction and so is the concept of a “capsule wardrobe.”   The idea is to simply invest in a handful of wardrobe pieces that don’t go out of style and are so versatile they can be worn more than one way.  Think about it, or better yet, take a quick inventory or your closet and look what’s hanging in there.  If you’re like me, it’s full of stuff you’ve never worn or haven’t worn in over a year.  Some pieces might even have tickets still attached.  Ouch, I just hate when that happens and it happens more than I care to admit.

If the concept of a leaner wardrobe with more closet space makes you as giddy as it does me, then it’s time to create a “capsule wardrobe”

I’ve put together 5 quick tips on getting started.

1. Clean Out

Roll your sleeves up and brave your way into your overcrowded closet.  Go through everything you have and get rid of those pieces you haven’t worn in a long time or things you know deep down you will never wear.  Being honest with yourself is key here.  Getting rid of closet clutter is the hardest step for most of us.

2.  Hold On To The Basics

Don’t get rid of everything.  You’ll want to keep the basics.  Basics include black pants or skirts, jeans, solid colored tops, a white collared button down and a neutral blazer or jacket.

3.  Determine Your Lifestyle

Stock up on styles that are geared toward your lifestyle.  If you work in an office setting, perhaps you’ll need a few more dressy pieces.  If you stay home, focus more on casual.

4.  Accessorize

In addition to owning combination of tops, bottoms, jackets/sweaters and a dress or two, be mindful of accessories.  Try to incorporate footwear than can be worn year round plus some jewelry, scarves and hats.

5.  Shop For The Season

 Plan on investing in about 20 pieces for a seasonal capsule wardrobe.  The most important thing to keep in mind is the ability to mix and match these pieces to create fresh and different looks.

1 Dollar Tree Christmas Ornaments

Ok, you might think it’s too early to start talking Christmas but I always feel once Halloween hits things get crazy busy with Thanksgiving and before you know it it’s time to decorate for Christmas.  For the past 2 years, I’ve been buying these dollar ornaments from the Dollar Tree.  I linked them only to show you what I’m talking about.  You’ll want to stop in and get them if this tickles your fancy.  I LOVE the matte ornaments in red, silver and gold.  Problem is, there are just a few in each box so you have to visit often or go to other stores to get your hands on the matte ones.  They are cheapo for sure but TRUST me, on your tree nobody will know!  They are large and stunning and look expensive!  You can see them in red on my one tree and in silver on another in this blog post here.

3 Metatarsal Pads

As I get older, wearing high heels is getting harder and harder! You too?  I’m going to give these metatarsal pads a try.

While I’m on the subject of feet, I came upon these yoga toes!  They’re supposed to fight bunions, hammer toes and foot pain -people who use these are believers!

5 Athleta Travel Wear

Just got back from Germany and I really was pleased with a couple purchases from Athleta.  I took these track pants with me.  They are on sale for over half off and run TTS.  They are very comfy yet still look chic.  I also took 2 of these mindset sweatshirts along.  OMG, they are buttery soft and SOOOO comfy!  And did you know that Athleta merchandise can be given a test run?  You can wear it and if it doesn’t perform to your liking you can return it for free up to a year?

6 Gianni Bini Booties

I got these booties a year ago and they sold out in a hot minute!  So many people asked about them when I posted on Instagram but sadly, they weren’t available.  They are fully stocked again this year.  They run TTS.

7  Slouch Boots From Walmart

Slouch boots are big this season.  I saw someone on Instagram wearing these boots and they looked like a lot more than $49.

8 Billie Razors

WOWZA!  The Billie razor is the best!  I am not a big fan of subscription services but sign me up for Billie!  These Billie razors work so well!  I love them for more than just their shaving ability; I love the magnetic shower holder it comes with!  Works great compared to the dumb suction cup holders that always fall from the wall.  It comes with two, 5 blade cartridges and the magnetic holder for only 9 bucks and free shipping!  I love to use it with Coochy Cream.  Read about Coochy cream in this Favorites blog post here.

9 Hair Brush Cleaner

When I got back from my trip, I decided to clean the hair brushes that I keep in my travel bag.  While doing so, I was thinking this needs to make my favorites list!  This hair brush cleaner one of those items you never knew you needed.
